I’ve been tutoring A-Level Maths for seven years, mainly with students who find calculus and algebra harder than the rest of the course. I like to see a student’s working rather than just the final answer, as that usually tells me where things have gone wrong. Near exam season, lessons become very paper-focused and we spend plenty of time on questions where several topics are mixed together.

Hi, I’m a Maths graduate and have been teaching A-Level Maths online for just over four years. Mechanics is probably my favourite part to teach, particularly when a student has previously thought it was basically another physics lesson! I draw diagrams for almost everything and encourage students to talk me through their method before we start calculating. Past-paper practice usually finishes each session.

Before moving into private tuition, I worked in engineering, so I tend to approach A-Level Maths from a fairly practical angle. I have nine years of tutoring experience and specialise in mechanics, vectors and calculus. I’m particularly careful with students who understand the mathematics but lose marks because their working is unclear. We regularly go through mark schemes to see exactly what examiners expect.

Statistics was the part of A-Level Maths I enjoyed most as a student, and it is still the topic I most enjoy teaching. I’ve tutored for five years and work with students at quite different stages, from those catching up after a difficult term to students aiming for an A*. I use lots of short questions before moving onto full exam problems, especially for probability and hypothesis testing.

I have taught A-Level Maths for more than twelve years, both in the classroom and through one-to-one tuition. My lessons are structured around the student’s current syllabus and recent schoolwork, with regular timed questions to check progress. Pure mathematics is my main area, particularly functions, trigonometry and integration. I also spend time correcting mathematical notation, which can make a real difference in exams.

Maths didn’t always come quickly to me at school, which has actually helped a lot with tutoring. I remember what it feels like to stare at a question and have no idea where to begin. I’ve now been tutoring A-Level Maths for six years, and I’m happiest working through tricky algebra, logarithms and differentiation. I usually let students attempt a question first, then we pick apart the exact step where it stopped making sense.
